Drupal is written in PHP and requires a MySQL database, both of which are available with the SiteGround Drupal hosting services. The Drupal basic installation can be easily turned into many different types of web pages - from simple web blogs to large online communities. A Drupal installation can be turned into a content management system, a blog, a forum, a newsletter system, a picture gallery and more. Here we will explain the use of Drupal as a blog application.
You can visit the pages listed below to find detailed instructions how to install Drupal on your website with the help of the Softaculous auto-installation tool or through the web installer.
How to create a blog site with Drupal?
To create a blog in Drupal you should first go to the Structure tab and click on the Content types menu.
After that you should press the Add content type button which would lead you to the content type creation page. After you choose a name for your content type, just click the Save and manage fields button.
When your new content type is ready, you should go to Structure > Content types again. Now you should see the newly created content type in the list.
From the Manage fields drop-down menu for the Blog content type, select Add field. From the drop-down, choose Comments: comment. Edit the Label if necessary and press Save and continue when you are ready.
From the field edit page, you can configure the default value; if the comments should be open, closed or hidden and display settings. Once you have adjusted the necessary options, press the Save settings button.
By default, Drupal does not allow non-registered users to post comments. In case you want to allow users to add comments without registering or logging in, you should make sure to configure your blog accordingly.
Click on the People tab and choose the Permissions section to review the available options.
If you want to allow anonymous users to post comments, make sure to place a tick on the Post comments field under Anonymous user. Leave the Skip comment approval option unticked if you want to approve anonymous comments before posting them.
When you adjust the settings as desired, press the Save permissions button.
How to start blogging?
Now you should go ahead and simply create a new Blog page via Content > Add content. Make sure to choose the Blog content type.
