Yes — you can use the AI Agent for WordPress to manage your website even if it is not hosted at SiteGround. The process differs slightly from connecting a SiteGround-hosted site, but it works just as well.

You simply need to connect it to SiteGround AI Studio using the AI Agent by SiteGround WordPress plugin. The setup takes a few minutes, and once connected, the agent works the same way as it does for SiteGround-hosted sites — managing content, plugins, themes, WooCommerce, and more through conversation.

How to Connect an External WordPress Website

  1. Open SiteGround AI Studio and go to your Profile menu (top-right corner) > Connectors.

  2. In the WordPress card, click Connect.

  3. Click the Add External Website button.

  4. Enter your domain and click Next

  5. A unique connection key will be displayed. Copy it.

  6. Download the AI Agent by SiteGround plugin using the link in the pop-up:

  7. Upload, install and activate the plugin on your WordPress site.
  8. Go to the plugin settings and click Connect.

  9. The plugin will ask for the connection key you copied earlier. Paste the key and confirm.
