Why is my site showing PHP warnings / errors?

PHP errors and warnings can appear for many reasons. It may be a broken or misconfigured plugin or a theme or another misconfiguration that is causing your site to return a PHP error message when you open a specific page.

Fix a PHP error

Since PHP errors are usually related to specific cases with your website’s software, the best approach is to Google-search the error and look for possible solutions. In most cases the error you’re seeing has already been fixed by someone and a guide to fixing it is available online. If you’re not comfortable with fixing this yourself, it’s best to contact your developer.

Disable a PHP warning

If your PHP script is performing as expected but still shows a warning, you can disable the warning without affecting the script. You can disable the warning by creating a php.ini file. To do this, go to Site Tools > Site > File Manager. In every folder where your custom settings apply to, create a php.ini file with the following content:

display_errors = off
