Dynamic Cache for Joomla!

Dynamic Cache for Joomla!

This article explains how to configure your Joomla! application to work with our SuperCacher dynamic caching service. First, you need to download the SuperCacher for Joomla! module. You can do this from this location.

After you download the module, install and enable it. To do this, follow the instructions in our tutorial on how to install Joomla modules.

How to Access the SuperCacher Settings

Once you install and enable the jSGCache Joomla plugin, navigate to the Extensions > Plugins.

On the page that opens, type in jsgcache in the search field and click the search button. The plugin System – jSGCache will appear, and you should click on its name to access the SuperCacher settings.

How to Enable the Dynamic Cache

To start using the dynamic caching system, enable the Dynamic Cache for your Joomla! site. To do this, set the SG Cache Status option to Enabled and click Save at the top of the page.

How to Enable the Dynamic Cache Autoflushing

The jSGCache plugin has three types of autoflushing options:

  • Automatic cache flushing – Cache is automatically flushed when any action is performed in the administration panel;
  • Autoflush 3rd party plugins – Automatically flush the Dynamic Cache if changes are detected on supported 3rd party plugins;
  • Autoflush outside administration – Automatically flush the Dynamic Cache if changes are detected outside the administration area.

To enable or disable a particular autoflush option use the Yes/No radio buttons for it and click Save at the top of the page.

How to Manage the Caching Exclude List

The URL Blacklist feature allows you to exclude specific URLs or groups of URLs from being cached. This is useful especially if you have posts or pages that have a lot of dynamic content in them and should not be cached. To add an URL or group of URLs to the exclude list, type them in the URL Blacklist text field and press Save at the top of the page.

Each entry should be added on a separate line. The plugin will remove all matching URLs from the cache. This means that if you add /category/dynamic-content/ to the list, all posts in that category with URLs like http://yoursite.com/category/dynamic-content/post-1 will be excluded from the cache.
