How to access the Drupal admin login page?

If the login module is disabled on your Drupal front page, it is useful to know the path to the Drupal admin login page.

The path is:

http://domainname.com/?q=user

Hello Ganesh! The admin dashboard is restricted for anonymous users by default. In fact, it is accessible only for the authenticated Admin user. You can manage the user permissions from People -> Permissions tab. Make sure to disable all of the administrative blocks for the anonymous users.

Additionally, there are different modules that you can use to secure your Drupal installation, such as Login Secure (which allows you to block users made a certain number of login failures), Login Disable (disable the login for all users, except the ones who access the admin page using a special key appended to the URL) and Rename admin page (which allows you to set custom names for the login pages).

Hi Ivan, I downloaded a copy of my drupal files and backed up/restored a copy of my drupal database from siteground to my local pc as I needed a copy of the website for development purposes.

After downloading and restoring the files/database, I was able to access the drupal homepage on my local pc. However, logging in with the admin is and password kept failing. This same thing actually happened a few times on my sitegrounded drupal hosted site too but mysteriously went away by itself.

After several times of failed attempts, my admin user account on the local drupal is locked out. The recover password page on my local pc ke[t giving a 400 page not found error. Apparently the local url which is http://localhost/kmdrupal is rebuilt as http://localhost only in constructing the password recovery url. (The same on site ground is http://kmdrupal.flameaters.com).

How do I get around this problem?

    Thanks.

Migrating/Cloning Drupal is pretty straightforward - you need to copy the files, setup the database and make sure that you have changed the configuration in the settings.php (sites/default/settings.php) file accordingly. The first thing I could think of is that you haven't updated the values in the configuration file, such as base_url. Fortunately, Drupal have a very detailed artcile about migrating and copying the application, that you can review and follow the steps described there:

      https://www.drupal.org/node/776864

You can also always consider building your development site on your hosting account (in a different sub-folder or sub-domain) - we will be able to assist you further this way since we will have an access to the copy and fix whatever needs additional reconfiguration:)
