Difference between temporary and permanent redirects

A 301 redirect indicates that a page is moved permanently to a new location. A 302 redirect indicates that the move is only temporary. Browsers and search engines do not cache the temporary redirect but do cache the permanent one. It is very important for the SEO of a website to always use the proper redirect types for pages.
