How to reset my MediaWiki admin password?
The easiest option to reset your MediaWiki admin user password is to use the "Forgot your password?" section. You can either use the admin username or its email account and you will receive a password reset link via email.
The second way is to reset the password directly from the database. To do that you can use the phpMyAdmin tool in cPanel. Once inside the tool, select the MediaWiki database on the left and then click the SQL tab on the right section of the page. In the text field type the following:
UPDATE prefix_user SET user_password = MD5( CONCAT( user_id, '-', MD5( 'NEWPASS' ) ) ) WHERE user_id =1
In the above you need to change prefix_ to the table prefix for your MediaWiki and NEWPASS to the new desired password.
When you run the query using the GO button, the password will be reset and you should be able to log in with it normally.
