Hosting PLUS is here!

I am happy to announce that we have launched a PLUS version of our shared hosting plan. Now each customer can choose between the standard shared hosting plan and the PLUS version during the order process. Any existing hosting account can also be upgraded to the new version at any time. The PLUS version includes the following benefits:

⁃    Unlimited addon domains
⁃    2 times more CPU allocated
⁃    Free Premium Support
⁃    Free Daily Backup
⁃    Free SSH Access

All these features can be added to your standard shared hosting for less than $5.00/mo above the standard hosting price. And keep in mind that the three extra services (Premium Support, Daily Backup and SSH) included in the PLUS version for free alone cost more than $100 per year!

That's an interesting service. Now, a question about the "Unlimited addon domains": The "Plus" in this service is the quantity or both the price and quantity? I mean, with "Plus", do I have to pay the $30 for each addon domain? or this cost is included in the 7.95/mo?
    Thank you!

No, the plus package allows you to have as many addons as you need without having to pay additionally for them :)

What does "2 times more CPU" mean exactly?

  4. Reply October 3, 2011 / 00:35 HristoSiteGround Team

Twice more CPU means that you can use twice more CPU time and script executions compared to the regular shared hosting account.

Do my web applications such aus joomla or moodle benefit from the "2 times more CPU"?

Yes, you can use more extensions and your website can handle more visitors without exceeding your hosting account limits.

We've had an account with siteground for over 10 years and have been very happy with their solid service and fast support. Our thousands of patrons have been extremely happy with the web service we provide which really boils down to you who host our site. In the last 10 years we've had 1 hacking incident which you informed us of very promptly and took care of it within a day. Finally I get the excitement of auto backup for our site and databases. This is fantastic and a big step forward because if you're someone who continuously tweaks your site, you don't keep thinking to manually backup everything every time. Thanks siteground for this optional package!!!

I moved to Hosting Plus a few months ago. Easy process to transfer over and now all my sites are easily managed in one place. There are plenty of benefits upgrading to Hosting Plus - i own and run my business which is a trade service and i write my own websites - Hosting Plus allows me to make changes effortlessly and when i upload pages through ftp i can do so for all three sites on the same session. Awesome all round.

if i buy the hosting PLUS now for 7.95$ per month, will this rate remain the same for years to come? or once the offer finishes i will start paying the original price (14.95$)??

    • Reply February 13, 2012 / 02:36 TinaSiteGround Team

Hi Oliver! The promotional $7.95/mo price is for the first year of registration. After your first year subscription expires, the PLUS account is renewed at standard prices ($14.95). Good news is that you can still benefit from discounts on renewal rates - 10% on one year renewal, 20% on two-year renewal, and 30% on tree-year renewals. Hope this helps!

      Best,

      Tina

Yes, you can upgrade your main website to Plus as part of this promotion and then transfer your other sites as addons :)

As a practical matter, how many different 'brochure' type websites can I expect to be able to host on one PLUS plan? I guess there's no space limitation as there is with some other hosting services, but still there's got to be some limit I would think to how many individual websites can be hosted before seeing a degradation of performance. I just want to be able to anticipate how many clients I can host in one plan before having to start another account. Thanks.

We don't have a restriction for the number of sites as long as your account complies with the Hosting Plus Terms of Use. On my personal Plus account, I have 18 different sites installed (mostly WordPress and Joomla), some of which pretty big and I am using about 70% of my inodes limit and 30% of the Running processes I am allowed to. I guess that since your sites won't be so complicated, you'll host much more.

Been with Siteground for years and have several sites with you. I just upgraded to Hosting Plus and building a new website. I am looking for a tutorial on how to move my websites over to my new Hosting Plus plan without paying the $50 per site you want to charge me. I was told I can do this myself but where is a tutorial that explains the process?

    • Reply May 13, 2013 / 01:05 HristoSiteGround Team

      Hi Terry,

The actual process depends on the site itself, but generally, you should take care of three things - transfer your files, transfer your database and reconfigure your website to work from the new location. Check out this article in our Knowledge Base. I believe it will help you easily move your sites :)

I am currently using hosting PLUS GrowBig it is great. Running the e-learning website using Moodel for 30 student. But may be 15 concurrent users are used.
I am thinking to move to Cloud 4 and has 6GB memory, but would like to know how many user can haldle the same time. I am think to do the more than 3 courses. It will be ok?
Another question: the stand hosting is so easy to set up the moodle, the Cloud hosing will be same or DIY everything.??

    • Reply February 24, 2014 / 11:35 Daniel KanchevSiteGround Team

      Hi Jessi,

Our Cloud servers use absolutely the same software tools that we have on our shared servers. This means that you'll be able to install/setup Moodle the exact same way that you do on your GrowBig account. The Cloud 4 server will be able to handle 15 simultaneous users just fine. Of course, if you experience any issues you can contact our amazing support team and we'll be glad to assist you at any time :)
