We are in a full-blown testing mode in the office. Our new website will be here very, very soon. While waiting, take a look at the three videos that will be part of the new SiteGround home page. They will explain a lot about SiteGround approach to web hosting and how we make your website safer, faster and better supported. But what is even more important, they will make you feel the real magic of our handmade philosophy.
Lately, we have added some fancy new features for Joomla and WordPress users and you might be wondering what’s next in our queue. We intend to add such features for other popular applications on our servers as well. So the good news this week is that our Drupal users can enjoy Drush 6.0 preinstalled on our servers!
During the last few months we have been working on an epic production, which will soon be released. The world premiere of our new website design will heat up the summer season. And this time it is not about impressing the audience with visual effects only. This time our website will tell a great story. The story is about how we do things that others never considered possible, and how we create a new and better shared hosting world for your website.
Ever heard of „cowboy coding“? More or less, we've all done it – no time for planning, let alone test website changes, each new upload messing up your CSS, installing an incompatible plugin, doing everything „live“ and visible immediately for all your website visitors to see. After all this, you end up hoping you had a backup.
As you already know, we @SiteGround HQ are obsessed with server performance and website loading speed. That is why we initially created the SuperCacher. It has already speeded up many of our customers’ websites and has been extremely well received by our users. Now, just a few months after the initial launch, we are happy to announce а new great caching option added to our SuperCacher -- the Google's PageSpeed Apache module.
Throughout the years SiteGround accomplished remarkable results in terms of performance and loading speed of our clients’ websites. To name a few of our achievements: frequent change of server gear with newer and more powerful one; rewriting the most commonly used software (such as Apache & php) in order to serve web pages even faster; tuning up our OS so it serves millions of requests per minute; adding multiple server locations across the globe so that content is nearer to your users, etc.
Have you noticed the shiny new banner in the your cPanel and the gold cloud in front of a sunburst icon that we have added at some point last month? If not, it is time to take a good look at them, because they link to a service that can make your website faster and safer. During the last few months we have been working on the implementation of the Cloudflare CDN into our web hosting service and now it is completely ready! Why did we bother and why should you care? Because Cloudflare CDN will add ninja power to your website with just one click and at no additional cost!
If you are a SiteGround client and you have been one for more than a couple of years, you probably have noticed that we tend to change our hardware quite often. This has been mine and SiteGrounds' philosophy for quite some time now.
Most hosts will brag about high-tech brand new hardware configurations on their websites but what remains hidden is that they use this hardware only for the new servers they set up. Usually, they won't replace a working machine for any reason. In fact they will keep it (even if 5 years old) until it’s dead broken and they are forced to restore all affected websites from a backup. This means that even if you get a good hardware initially, as time goes by you will be stuck with it and you will get slower and crappier service until your old server crashes and you are “lucky” to be moved to the new hardware.
