Our latest template “Business Meeting”, with versions for both Joomla 2.5 and WordPress!

Our new theme for WordPress and Joomla has a slider!

Our latest template Business Meeting has versions for Joomla 2.5 and WordPress! The main new functionality we have added to this design is a header with sliding images in it. Below I will explain in details how you can manage the slider for the WordPress and the Joomla template.

WordPress Functionality

Business Meeting settings pageIn WordPress, once you install the theme, a new menu will appear on your admin page named Business Meeting. On this page, you can configure whether you want to enable the slider or show a single image and how many slides to be shown if slide show is enabled. The images for the slide show should be 950x 290px and should be uploaded in the “images” folder of your theme directory with names image1.jpg, image2.jpg etc.

Select a Featured image for all the posts and pages you want!Additionally, in WordPress you can have a custom image in the header for each post or page you publish. This is achieved by using the standard WordPress functionality featured image. Our theme slider is configured to display such a featured image instead of the slider. If no image is featured the theme will show your default slider settings for the post.

Joomla Functionality

Business Meeting for Joomla 2.5 configuration pageThe configuration of the slider for the Joomla 2.5 template is similar. In the Template Manager you can set the same options: if the slider functionality of the header will be enabled or disabled, and if enabled how many slides will be rotated.

In the Joomla version, you can easily hide the slider for non-index pagesIn Joomla, however, you cannot have custom image for different pages, as this is possible for WordPress only. What the template offers instead is to choose whether the header will be visible for all the pages or only for the home page. If you decide to use the slider only on your front page, the design will adjust accordingly, so your other articles will still look great!

    Would love some drupal themes, do you plan on making any soon

      Currently, we are not planning on adding new Drupal themes. This may change in the future depending on the demand we see and the availability of design resources we can dedicate to this.

    How do I change the slides in Joomla?

    • Reply December 6, 2012 / 09:33 HristoSiteGround Team

      You can change the slides by replacing the images named image1.jpg, image2.jpg etc. in the templates/siteground-j16-44/images folder 🙂

    Thank you! Now - if I want to do the same thing for a wordpress version I should just go to the same folder and replace it correct? I have done that at my website - and even deleted all of the images and then only re-uploaded the ones I want to show and can't get it to work.

    Sorry about this - I ended up deciding to go w/ wordpress instead.

    I really like the Business Meeting template, it displays fine in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. But in Internet Explorer 8 and 9 it displays badly depending on how you have compatibility mode set. This is not a problem for me, but it is for my customer and his customers. They don't want to be bothered with having to change a simple setting. My guess is they need compatibility mode to view the an internal site they use use every day for their work.
    It's looks like I need an alternate .CSS style sheet just for IE. I can see how to enable one, Just don't know where to start creating one.\
    Can you provide some guidance?

      Hi Edwin,

      I've just added some CSS magic to the theme and it should look fine on IE 8 and 9. You can download the theme anew and reinstall it. If you keep experiencing issues with this, please post a screenshot in our forum so I can troubleshoot and help you further 🙂

    I really like the Business Meeting theme. However, when I installed the NextGen Gallery, the slider stopped working. When I checked the theme compatibility, I got a message that
    "Missing the call to wp_head() in your theme, contact the theme author"
    Any ideas how to resolve this?

      It looks like a caching issue. Are you using any caching system?

    Great template... love it. For the joomla version, Is there a way to add a link to each slide? Example: You click on slide one and it will go to a unique URL. I have researched this in great detail and cannot accomplish this without rewriting much of the code. Also, I tried using "CK Slideshow" extension with this template and it will not function. "CK Slideshow" functions fine with other templates I've used. I imagine there is something in the CSS blocking it's functionality, but I am unable to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. -Jerry

      Hi Jerry,

      I am afraid that you have to play a bit with the code because that part of the template was supposed to be just a simple slider. You need to edit the index.php, get rid of the cycle that checks for the number of images and add them manually with the appropriate links. If you're having issues with that, please mail me at hristo.p {at} siteground.com with some FTP access to your site and I'll make those changes for you 🙂

    This template is outstanding. It is very simple and clean! I am trying to figure out how to add some image links in the title area on the WordPress version instead of the text. Is there a way to do that? Do I need to go into the header.php file or something?

    • Reply January 14, 2014 / 08:34 HristoSiteGround Team

      Yes, you need to edit the header.php file and replace the h1 and h2 tags (title and tagline) with the appropriate HTML to display your image.

      Hi Adil,

      This issue is caused by your local server configuration. Please check it's documentation for more information on how to troubleshoot such issues.

    Is there any way to change the font size in the business meeting theme? Love the theme other than that. Thanks.

    • Reply July 18, 2014 / 04:24 HristoSiteGround Team

      You can use the FireBug extension for Firefox and Chrome to 'inspect' the text you want to modify. Then, make the necessary changes in the theme's CSS file to increase the font size.

    <?php if ($slider_enabled == 1) {for ($i = 1; $i
    <img src="baseurl ?>/templates/template ?>/images/image.jpg" alt="Slideshow Image" />

      Hey, my advice would be to contact a local dev to help you out with that. It would be the best way to do it since they can make it work the way you want for your particular site.

        Open your index.php file and change:
        $menu = &JSite::getMenu();

        $menu = JFactory::getApplication()->getMenu();

    Hristo, I am writing to you here because you haven't answered the last several queries on the blog for the World theme, and googling that theme I can't find anything else at all. Also the theme does not appear to be listed on the WordPress site as one of their themes.

    I love this theme, exquisite in its simplicity, but need support and don't know where else to look. Has the theme been discontinued by WordPress? Or is it a theme only available on Siteground? Why are you not answering questions on the World theme blog? If the theme is no longer supported, in my opinion it should not be offered as an option to Siteground users. What say you?

      I am trying to answer questions here. Is there anything in particular I can help you with?

  17. Reply March 23, 2015 / 11:30 ToniSiteGround Team

    Since I wrote my original message, I found the information that the World theme was created by Siteground, so that's why I didn't find it on WordPress site. DUH. Also, I am so new to Siteground that it took me a while to find the extensive documentation available by pressing the Help button. Another DUH, based on my years-long experience that Help menus are seldom helpful and I usually ignore them. Wrong in this case!

    However, although the documentation for World theme is extensive, it ain't perfect. What I can't find is the CSS for the tag line in header. I want to increase font size and change color. Can you help me with that?

    • Reply April 3, 2015 / 04:21 Hristo PandjarovSiteGround Team

      There's nothing speciffic in that theme that would require additional information. Please check the header.php file for the top part of the theme. I believe you will find the code that has to be edited there. In any case, I would advice you to contact a dev if you want to make more serious changs to your theme.

      Just publish a menu module in the appropriate position and they will show.
