Do you have our WordPress autoupdater switched on? Have you logged to your WordPress admin since Saturday? If your answer is YES to both questions, you should have already noticed that things no longer look the same at the backend. Changes in the WordPress administration area that you see are part of the newest WordPress version 3.8 that was released on Thursday, December 12th and was automatically applied to our customers’ websites less than 48 hours later.
Even though it’s freezing here in Boston, what kept us warm during the last weekend, apart from the really cool RedComponent swag hats, was the great community feeling that was all around Joomla World Conference 2013! The high quality of the event organization, the wide mix of the topics, the great speakers and the opportunity to meet so many of our favorite #jpositive people made us very happy to be there. We felt even prouder that SiteGround contributed to such an outstanding event by being its main sponsor.
SiteGround web hosting company has recently enhanced its service in order to target better its European users. Last week the company introduced prices in EURO and British Pounds, additional free European domain names and more convenient access to phone support from the territory of the old continent. This is not the first step that SiteGround takes to get closer to markets outside the USA. Last year the company launched its first server location in Europe and a few months later one more in Asia. The special attention to its international customers is now extended with new enhancements targeting the European citizens.
SiteGround web hosting company has become the official hosting partner of Open Classifieds (OC), which is one of the most popular free web applications for building classified sites. As part of the partnership Open-classifieds.com itself has been moved to a SiteGround server and a special joint hosting offer was created by the two companies for all Open Classifieds users.
It's Jazz Friday again. Happy new WordPress release everybody! WordPress 3.6 is live and the list of improvements, new features and bug fixes seems to be endless. Since you may have already looked over the official post at WordPress.org I'll try to highlight only the most important changes and skip those 700+ fixes and minor UI changes. SiteGround uses WordPress to power up this blog and our knowledge base, and I have already updated both instances without any issues along the way.
We’re excited to announce that a new WordPress tool has been added to our servers. WordPress users who love command line will be happy to find WP-CLI pre-installed on all SiteGround accounts.
WP-CLI allows you to do multiple things like updating your WordPress, installing themes and plugins, setting up multiple sites, etc., and all that without using a web browser. To take advantage of the tool you don’t need to install anything yourself. Simply login to your account via SSH, navigate to the folder of your WordPress installation and start typing management commands – it’s that simple!
SSH can be easily enabled for all SiteGround accounts through your cPanel. For detailed instructions refer to the following tutorial: How to enable SSH for your account.
SiteGround web hosting company has reinvented its brand identity and launched a complete redesign of its website, company logo, and hosting plans structure in line with the new brand concept. The brand message communicates now more clearly that SiteGround delivers a high-quality, superior service thanks to its "handcraft" approach to hosting as opposed to the "mass-production" one chosen by the majority of web hosts.
Lately, we have added some fancy new features for Joomla and WordPress users and you might be wondering what’s next in our queue. We intend to add such features for other popular applications on our servers as well. So the good news this week is that our Drupal users can enjoy Drush 6.0 preinstalled on our servers!
