SuperCacher Introduction

The SuperCacher is developed by SiteGround exclusively for our customers. It increases the number of hits a site can handle and boosts the website loading speed. The SuperCacher includes 4 different caching options for maximum optimization of your websites. You can access the tool by clicking on the SuperCacher icon in your cPanel:

Once you click it, you will be brought to the main tool page. On it, you will find brief information on how SuperCacher works and three tabs for the different available caching options:

SuperCacher works above the Apache web server providing excellent caching solution for all types of websites. We have added four different caching options to help you get the best result for your particular site:

Varnish Static Cache Option - This simplest form of caching is powered by the web accelerator Varnish. When a page is loaded, it makes a copy of your static content - images, CSS, JavaScript, etc. and puts them into the server's RAM. Next time your visitors load your website, the content is fetched directly from the server's RAM which is significantly faster than the server's hard drive. This type of caching can be used for all types of sites. Learn how to enable Static Cache

Varnish Dynamic Cache Option - Another option based on Varnish. This is an extremely effective solution for dynamic websites powered by Joomla, Wordpress and Magento. It caches the HTML output created by the PHP code of these applications and serves it directly from the RAM, instead of generating it each time. To benefit from this caching level, you need to upload a plugin developed by us on your Joomla or WordPress and then activate the service. Learn how to enable Dynamic Cache

Memcached Option - This is a popular caching system that is used by many database-powered sites like YouTube, Facebook, Wikipedia and many others. It caches the results from the database queries into the ram speeding up the website tremendously. Learn how to enable Memcached

Google PageSpeed Option - Alternatively, as part of the SuperCacher, our customers can also use a caching technology developed by Google – the mod_pagespeed Apache module. This module allows using multiple site speed optimizations like combining and minifying JavaScript and CSS files, inlining small resources, dynamically optimization of images by removing unused meta-data from each file, resizing the images to specified dimensions, and re-encoding images to be served in the most efficient format available to the user. When mod_pagespeed is enabled it comes with a pre-defined set of core optimization filters. In addition, you can add more advanced filters for higher performance improvements.
