Baisic sh404SEF Lite configuration
To see how sh404SEF Lite basic configuration, login to your Joomla admin area and go to Components -> sh404SEF.
On this page, we have set Enable the URL optimization to Yes. It's the "main switch" of the component and unless enabled, the other settings won't work.
The next configuration option is named Rewriting mode and it handles the way sh404SEF Lite will modify your URLs. In this drop-down, there are two options you can chose from:
- without .htaccess (index.php) - this is the more simple way of URL optimization. If sh404SEF Lite is set to work this way, your URLs will look like this:
http://yoursite.com/index.php/your-article.htmlIt's not the best way your URLs can look so we recommend and have enabled by default the other option.
- with .htaccess (mod_rewrite) - this is the best option for your URLs and we have chosen it by default. To make the option functional for your Joomla we have installed a mod_rewrite module on all our servers and we have renamed the standard htaccess file in your Joomla root directory from htaccess.txt to .htaccess during the Joomla installation process.
