The end of June finds us in the middle of several important projects in SiteGround: a brand new web redesign is heavily in the making, complimented by the preparation of a brand new office for the SiteGround staff. To share the excitement of the work, we will keep you posted on the go. Meanwhile, you can check our new server location - Singapore, especially if you are in Asia or Australia. And one more important thing before you hit the beach: both WordPress and Joomla released new versions in June, so hurry up and upgrade for a carefree vacation!

A new Datacenter for Asia and Australia

When we launched our first European datacenter, we promised it to be only the first step towards adding even more server locations. We even put up a vote for our clients to give us a hint where they prefer our next server hub to be opened. The top two choices in our poll were Sri Lanka and Australia, backing up our initial intentions to address exactly the needs of our clients in the Asian-Pacific region - our third biggest client base after USA and Europe. Just two months since then, the new datacenter in Asia has already become reality.

The new datacenter is situated in Singapore and of course offers the same high-quality hosting features for the same price - only geographically closer to our clients from the Asian-Pacific region, ensuring faster loading speed for their local visitors.

A new WordPress version

WordPress are continuing their cool trend to name the major new versions after jazz musicians. So if you wondered, their new version 3.4 is dubbed "Green" not because it will make your website more environmentally friendly, but in honor of the famous Jazz musician Grant Green. Few days after the "Green" edition, an important security fix was also released, so make sure to use WordPress 3.4.1 to be Green and safe!

A new Joomla!™ version

Meanwhile the Joomla team also released two versions in two days! Version 2.5.5 fixed some important security issues on Monday, 18 June and versions 2.5.6 fixed some important issues with version 2.5.5 on Tuesday, 19 June. It is now high time to upgrade to 2.5.6 and be sure your Joomla stays secure and functional.

Latest PHP versions on SiteGround's servers

One more update from us - we've also upgraded the PHP versions on all SiteGround servers to their latest editions - from PHP 5.3.13 to 5.3.14 and from PHP 5.4.3 to PHP 5.4.4. This is just to keep you informed that you're already up-to-date on that, no need for you to do anything.

Sneak peeks of our Customer Area redesign!

As mentioned above, we are having a redesign. It is insanely close to launching the first stage of the new look - the Customer Area and Support HelpDesk. The makeover includes lots of improvements and extras, intended to make the management of your accounts easier, smoother and quicker. The purpose of the new tools is to be extremely intuitive to use, so that you can make account modifications in a few clicks, find support answers and assistance more easily and get new ideas on how to enhance and grow your website at a glance. SiteGround takes on the Big Apple

The SiteGround conference team has been busy abroad as well. This month we managed to attend two major events in New York one after the other - the world's largest conference for new online media BlogWorld New Media Expo and right afterwards change the scale with the local WordPress community event WordCamp NYC.
